Shokran Events Venue hosts gin tasting event

The Gin and Kie Craft Liquor Market was not only a gin tasting event as it also provided guests with the opportunity to welcome spring in a memorable way.

More than 800 people on Saturday attended the fifth annual Gin and Kie Craft Liquor Market at Shokran Events Venue in the east of Pretoria.

“Although our focus was mainly on gin, we also had, among others, quality brandy, whisky and beer to be tasted,” Shokran Events Venue owner Charmaine Lourens told Rekord.

She said the event was more than only a gin tasting as it provided guests with the opportunity to welcome spring in a safe outdoor environment as well as in a fun and memorable way.

“We treated our guests to music the entire day while they enjoyed their drinks and delicious food sold by a number of market stalls st the venue,” she said, adding that the day was great fun.

She said in relation to music, the event provided upcoming musicians with an opportunity to perform live on stage and showcase their talents.

The Gin and Kie Craft Liquor Market is a family event as it also caters for children.

“Children are accommodated at the event as they are provided with a number of games to play,” she said.

One of the guests, Alicia Swanepoel, said attending the event was an amazing experience.

“I am attending the event for the first time and I enjoyed it,” she said.

“I enjoy people and the gin is nice, making it a completely lovely day.”

Another guest, Imke Knoetze, said she enjoyed the vibe and the people.

“It is nice to be here and the gins are lovely – I am a gin fan,” she said.
It was also her first time at the event.
