Two men suspected of having shot and killed a TMPD officer during a hijacking two weeks ago in Centurion have been arrested.
Constable Mike Mtsweni was shot dead in the early hours of October 2. According to the TMPD, Mtsweni, who was off duty, was travelling with three other people when they were ambushed and hijacked in Olievenhoutbosch.
Mtsweni’s body was found with gunshot wounds and he was declared dead on the scene.
Two weeks after the fatal shooting police said they had made a breakthrough in the murder case. In a statement, the TMPD announced that two men suspected to be behind the murder were arrested on Friday in Olievenhoutbosch during a law enforcement operation by the TMPD, Hawks and SAPS.
“The Tshwane Metro Police information gathering unit played a big role in identifying two suspects who were involved in the case.
“During the operation, the two suspects were spotted in Olievenhoutbosch inside a vehicle.
“The officers reacted swiftly and arrested the suspects.”
