Eskom to implement stage 4 load-shedding until further notice
The power utility currently has 4 887MW on planned maintenance, while another 15 320MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns
Eskom has implemented stage 4 load-shedding due to high levels of breakdowns and depleted emergency generation reserves.
The power utility warned that changes in the stages of load-shedding will be more erratic due to the absence of the buffer that is normally provided by the diesel generation capacity between generating unit breakdowns.
Eskom added that further updates will be published as soon as there are any significant changes.
“Load-shedding is implemented only as a last resort in view of the shortage of generation capacity and the need to attend to breakdowns,” Eskom said.
