Staff held at gunpoint at Centurion shopping centre

The robbery occurred just before the fast food restaurant closed on March 31.

Staff at a fast food restaurant emerged unscathed after they were held at gunpoint, just before closing time on Friday night, March 31.

The Nandos restaurant at a Centurion shopping centre on Voortrekker Rd (R55) had no customers at the time of the robbery as staff were preparing to head home.

Manager of the branch, Pinkie Nkosi, confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

He said staff members were held at gunpoint and cash from the till and some staff’s cell phones were stolen.

Olievenhoutbosch police spokesperson, Sargent Pretty Mokadi, confirmed that two men pointed a firearm at the staff and fled with cash and cell phones.

She said a case of business robbery was still under investigation by the Olievenhoutbosch SAPS.

Residents are urged to report suspected crimes to their nearest police station.

“It is important for people to call 10111 in an emergency, because the operators are trained to ask specific questions to determine the best course of action,” say the SAPS.
