Akasia police spokesperson, Lindiwe Mabase, confirmed the incident at the local mall.

“Two males were arrested after being caught attempting to steal from a car in Wonderpark mall yesterday.

“They were apprehended by the community patrollers who operate within the area and brought to the attention of the Police,” said Mabase.

She said the two men, between the ages of 34 and 40, will face charges of attempted theft out of a motor vehicle and are expected to appear in court soon.

Akasia Station Commander, Colonel Godfrey Zwane, welcomed the efforts of the Community Policing Forums and security services for assisting in fighting crime in the area.

“This sets an example to those who still do criminal activities around Wonderpark and Akasia at large,” he said.
