Medics on the scene said the captain was shot multiple times and was airlifted to a specialised hospital in Johannesburg

A police captain was airlifted to a Johannesburg hospital on Saturday evening after he was shot multiple times.

Details are sketchy but according to Pro Med EMS paramedics a team responded to a shooting incident at Sefako Makgatho Road at the N1 South Highway at Montana.

The service said that the patient was stabalised and treated on the scene.

“Due to the nature of the injuries, Netcare911’s Emergency Helicopter was activated to assist in airlifting the patient to a specialised hospital in Johannesburg.”

The service confirmed that investigative authorities were at the scene and would be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
