Three dead, five critically injured in R101 head collision
The people who sustained fatal injuries includes an infant, a teenager and an adult female.

Pro Med Emergency medical services responded to a head on collision between a bakkie and a minibus taxi where an infant was among the three who died and five were left critically injured.

The accident happened on Erica Street on the R101 at Bon Accord.

Pro Med spokesperson Michael Gough said three people were certified dead on arrival of medics at the scene.
“The people who sustained fatal injuries include an infant, a teenager and an adult female.
Five people were left injured, among them a 10-year-old boy who was critically injured.
“Five people were stabilised on the scene before two were airlifted by two helicopters through to a specialist for immediate medical care
Three were transported to hospital via advanced life support,” Gough Said.

Gough told Rekord that the exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and forensics and accident investigators are on the scene.
Rekord contacted Tshwane metro police department for a comment but they were not available at the time of going to print.
