What the weather looks like for the weekend

Pretoria will have a weekend of pleasant weather before temperatures drop into next week.

Saturday is expected to be clear and sunny for most of the day, despite showers and thundershowers expected in Tshwane on Friday and Sunday, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

Rain showers are expected in the early hours of Friday, bringing a cold start to the day with a low of 12°C.

Weather conditions are expected to clear up by the late morning becoming partly cloudy, until mostly clear skies by the afternoon. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 28°C.

The evening will bring showers and thundershowers to parts of the metro in the evening.

Conditions will clear up by Saturday with a mostly clear day expected, with a partly cloudy afternoon.

Saturday will have a minimum of 13°C and reach a maximum of 27°C.

SAWS predicts a cooler Sunday, with a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 13°C.

A partly cloudy morning is expected to develop into showers and thundershowers by the evening.

Temperatures will continue to drop into next week with Monday’s high expected to reach 24°C, with a low of 16°C.

Showers and thundershowers will continue on Monday morning, calming to rain showers by the evening.

Temperatures are expected to drop further as the week progresses with morning cloudy or rainy weather.

According to AfriWX, Pretoria will have a high-risk UV index throughout the weekend, recommending sun protection from the late morning through to the mid-afternoon.

It recommends generously applying broad-spectrum SPF-15 or higher sunscreen on exposed skin, and wearing protective clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses.
