Sassa issues June’s payment dates to its beneficiaries
This June payments will be paid out to the elderly on June 2, while the disability and children’s will be paid on June 5-6.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has reserved every first week of each month for elderly, child and disability grant payments.
This is as the agency issued its year-long schedule for Sassa payments to all its beneficiaries.
This June payments will be paid out to the elderly on June 2, while the disability and children’s will be paid on June 5-6.
Beneficiaries are advised to consider using their cards to buy goods or related commodities rather than withdrawing all their funds.
According to the agency, all beneficiaries can still collect their monies at the South African Post Office branches except for social relief distress (SRD) recipients.
Meanwhile, Sassa has assured social grant beneficiaries with gold cards that they can still receive their grants without any disruptions until the end of the year.
This follows the closure of many of the post office branches across the country.
In a statement, Postbank spokesperson Dr. Bongani Diako said social grant recipients can continue to use their expired cards at ATMs and merchant Point of Sale (Pos) withdrawals without the need to collect new cards or switch to other banks.
“Social grant recipients that prefer to use the recently introduced Postbank cardless method of accessing social grants via participating retailers such as Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Usave, Checkers, and OK are encouraged to do so as the alternative option is still available.”
As part of alleviating the challenges of beneficiaries, especially those who were still using gold cards, Shoprite announced last week that Sassa beneficiaries can now switch their gold cards to a Shoprite Money Market account.
“Sassa grant beneficiaries with gold cards expiring in the next few months can avoid long queues and payment mishaps by switching their payments, free of charge, to a Shoprite money market account,” the statement read.
