High speed shooting near Silver Lakes shopping centre

Suspects shot several bullets at security vehicles chasing them

Police are investigating an attempted murder case after a shooting incident near Silver Lakes on Sunday morning.

Private security companies Omega Risk Solutions and Bidvest Protea Coin were on the scene during the shooting incident.

According to police, the suspects were driving a white Toyota bakkie and opened fire on a security vehicle that was following them.

The vehicles were travelling on Solomon Mahlangu Drive.

The shooter opened fire from the rear right door of the bakkie and shot the vehicle several times between the windscreen and bonnet.

The security company called for backup, and several vehicles were soon in pursuit of the bakkie.

Suspects continued to shoot at their pursuers, damaging several vehicles.

Unfortunately, the suspects got away on the Rossouw offramp on the N4 after the security vehicles lost sight of them.

A total of 11 bullet casings were found on the scene.

No injuries were reported.
