Motorist suffers serious injury in N1 accident

The N1 is slowly becoming a road of horror for motorists.

One motorist sustained serious injuries when a light motor vehicle collided with a stationary truck on the N1 highway near the Samrand off-ramp on Friday morning.

Emer-G-med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said when the paramedics arrived at the scene they treated the driver of a light motor vehicle for serious injuries.

“The driver of the light motor vehicle had serious injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise him before he was taken to a nearby hospital for further care,” Van Reenen said.

This is the second incident in a space of the week on the same route.

Last week, members of the Emer-G-Med responded to an accident in the early hours of Monday morning.

It was said that a driver of a light motor vehicle lost control and hit the side barricade.

However, the driver did not sustain any major injury.

The N1 highway is slowly becoming notorious for these kinds of accidents.
