Mechanic shot dead reportedly after arguing with client
The mechanic was found dead in his car with empty cartridges lying around the scene.
A man was arrested on Thursday, October 12 after he allegedly shot and killed a mechanic in his vehicle on the corner of R101 and Tambotie Street.
Municipal police suspect an argument led to the shooting and death of the mechanic.
Tshwane metro police department (TMPD) spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said TMPD members in Region 2 were conducting patrols around 19:00 when they received an alert from a member of the public. There was a vehicle parked on the road with hazard lights on.
Mahamba said the officers approached the vehicle and found a man who was shot and killed inside the vehicle.
“He was found with empty cartridges lying around the scene.
“An eyewitness approached the officers and gave information regarding the shooting.”
The eyewitness said the TMPD officers managed to spot the suspect’s vehicle at a garage on Soutpan Road near Soshanguve.
“The suspect was then arrested and found in possession of a firearm and ammunition.”
Mahamba said the suspect was taken back to the crime scene.
He said upon further preliminary investigation, it was found the deceased was a mechanic who was in the process of fixing the suspect’s vehicle.
“An argument ensued while they were inside the mechanic’s vehicle which led to the shooting.”
He said the suspect was arrested and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.
Police were yet to comment at the time of publishing.
