Two killed in light aircraft crash
Emergency services said that an investigation would be underway.
A pilot and a passenger were killed on Sunday morning in a plane crash at the Grasslands runway in Centurion.
Details are sketchy, but Tshwane Emergency Services Department (ESD) spokesperson Hannes Swanepoel confirmed that two men were killed in the accident.
He said the Tshwane ESD Centurion station received the call at about 08:15.
“The two were declared deceased when the Gauteng Provincial Emergency Services arrived on the scene,” Swanepoel said.
It is believed that the small light aircraft crashed during landing at the Grasslands runway.
“SAPS are still on site to investigate the incident,” he added.
SAPS Tshwane regional spokesperson, Johan Van Dyk, confirmed that police were at the scene and would provide further information at a later stage.
