Missing Pretoria east man found dead in Vereeniging
Riaan van Lingen left home for a meeting in Olifantsfontein but never returned. His body was later found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating a case of hijacking, kidnapping and murder after a Pretoria east man was found dead with gunshot wounds in Vereeniging.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said Garsfontein police were investigating a case of murder following Riaan van Lingen’s disappearance.
Van Lingen was reported missing on Monday, February 12 after he left home for a meeting in Olifantsfontein in Ekurhuleni.
His family last communicated with him at 13:50 on the day of his disappearance, and he was last seen in Moreletapark.
Van Lingen who lived in Wingate Park Golf estate, was expected to be home by 17:00 on Monday, however, the tracker of his white double-cab Ford Ranger was switched off.
Van Dyk said Van Lingen’s body was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday.
It is reported that a large sum of money was withdrawn from his account, however, police have yet to confirm this.
Rekord has received information about possible arrests in this case. However, we have not yet received confirmation from the police.
