City sends water tankers to Mabopane after complaints about dry taps
The city has deployed water tankers to aid affected residents in blocks C and D.
The Tshwane metro has deployed water tankers to aid residents in Mabopane, north of Pretoria as repairs commenced following several days of dry taps due to major leakages and electricity cable issues.
The metro reassured residents of its plans to quickly address this situation.
The water supply issue has hit the Mabopane area specifically in Block C and D.
To address a significant leak, the water team was engaged in urgent repair work in Mabopane Block D.
“Unfortunately, during these repair efforts an electricity cable was inadvertently damaged,” said MMC for Utilities and Regional Operations and Coordination Themba Fosi.
He said the city had already informed power utility Eskom of the situation and teams were standing by to commence repair work as soon as they had safely switched off the electricity supply in the area.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents during this time. As a result of this unforeseen circumstance, residents in Block C and D may experience disruptions to their water supply.”
Fosi said the city sincerely apologised for any inconvenience caused.
“To mitigate the impact on affected residents, the city has deployed water tankers to provide interim water supply services in the affected area.”
He added that the city understood the importance of access to clean water and was working diligently to restore normal service as soon as possible.
He however said: “Despite assurances from Eskom to dispatch a team, we regret to inform residents that the assistance has not yet arrived.
“The city remains in constant communication with Eskom to expedite the resolution process.
“We remain committed to restoring normal water supply as soon as possible and will provide updates as the situation progresses.”
