Five Laudium learners affected in medical emergency
One learner was taken to hospital following the incident.
Five learners at Himalaya Secondary School in Laudium reportedly suffered from “fits” on Thursday around noon.
The nature of the medical emergency was not immediately clear and it is uncertain at this stage what the cause of the incident was.
According to Action SA PR councillor Prajay Ramjee, Netcare 911 and PAJ Community Patrollers were on the scene.
Ramjee confirmed the reports, saying four learners were assessed on the scene, while one of the learners was transported to Kalafong Hospital for further care.
Gauteng Emergency Services spokesperson JP von Bennecke confirmed that the provincial emergency services were at the scene to assist the learners.
Von Bennecke said it was not clear what caused the fits.
He confirmed that the learners were all in a stable condition.
