Author wants to take a journey into the magic of Irene

Robin Wheeler published his newest book, 'Love is the key to your voice' and now wants to direct his attention to the quaint area of Centurion.

In the charming neighbourhood of Irene, author and entrepreneur Robin Wheeler has set his sights on an ambitious project of telling the story of the unique community.

Wheeler has written several books, with his latest, “Love is the Key to Finding Your Voice” published earlier this year.

The handbook on “live your myth” takes you on a transformational trip, starting in Johannesburg with Wheeler selling his house to his lifelong dream of restoring his ancestral home, combined with his time living in Thailand.

Wheeler’s roots are deeply embedded in Irene.

After moving back to his family home in 2022, he now wants to embark on a mission to bring Irene’s enchantment to life through the pages of a book.

The writer and entrepreneur has a background in psychology and corporate human resources and spent the last 15 years developing a management consultant tool.

This tool, born out of his expertise in consulting, writing and training, aims to guide companies through transformative changes, helping them achieve their goals while maintaining authenticity.

He told Rekord that writing a book is a process where the author undergoes a personal transformation, and in turn, the reader is also transformed.

Having successfully applied his tool in various industries, Wheeler is now turning his attention to Irene.

He sees the potential to use his unique approach to unveil the magic within this community, much like he has done for businesses.

“Irene is like a microcosm of the world, a healthy place with valuable teachings for everyone,” he said.

His personal connection to Irene adds an emotional layer to the project.

The home he now lives in was built by his grandparents, and his grandmother dedicated 20 years of her life to teaching at Irene Primary School, leaving a lasting impact on many residents.

Wheeler said the project is not merely about aesthetics, but also elevating the community to a higher level.

“I have days when I question if I’ve taken on too much, but the energy and the essential nature of this project keep me going,” he said.

“The project will take about six to nine months to complete, and in this case, I will be calling on the community to see how we can do this together.

“People with movie-making abilities can film it and turn it into a documentary, if someone makes music, they can do some musical scoring, this project needs to involve people from the community.”
