House robbery suspects caught in Lukasrand

A police operation brings an end to a string of house robberies and kidnappings in Mooi-Nooi, as two suspects were caught in a high-speed chase.

Police arrested two suspects in Pretoria on Monday, April 15 for a series of house robberies and kidnappings in Mooi-Nooi, North West.

According to police spokesperson Duane Lightfoot, intelligence was gained which led the team to Lukasrand in Pretoria.

“Both suspects’ vehicles were spotted travelling towards Crawford College,” said Lightfoot.

“The suspects were utilising a blue Haval H6 that was taken during a house robbery and a silver Volkswagen Polo, to commit the crimes.”

He said the suspects tried to outrun the law, but police were hot on their heels.

Lightfoot said the pursuit ended when both vehicles came to a halt and the suspects were arrested on the spot.

“Their plans were foiled by the swift and efficient police operation,” said Lightfoot.

He said the vehicles were seized for further investigation.

“Cellphones and other evidence were also recovered, providing crucial clues in the ongoing probe,” said Lightfoot.
