LISTEN: Metro reschedules work on Salvokop reservoir
Upgrades to the reservoir for May have been postponed to June.
The Tshwane metro is cautioning residents to take note of the rescheduling of a planned upgrade to the Salvokop Reservoir water supply network.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the initial upgrade work was scheduled to be carried out on Wednesday, May 14, however, it was rescheduled for June.
“The work in question is now rescheduled for Tuesday, June 4 for 12 hours, from 08:00 until 20:00,” he said.
Residents are warned of water supply interruptions in the following suburbs:
– Arcadia Ext 6
– Arcadia, west of Eastwood Street
– Muckleneuk, north of the rail line
– Pretoria Central, south of Visagie Street
– Pretoria Ext 15
– Pretoria Town and Townlands 351-JR
– Prinshof 280-JR
– Prinshof 349-JR
– Salvokop Ext 1, 2 and 3
– Sunnyside
– Trevenna
“The Tshwane metro apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be caused by the rescheduling of the above-mentioned upgrade.”
Mashigo urged residents to continue making the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:
– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
– Do not fill swimming pools.
– Instal a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
– Take a short shower rather than a bath.
– Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.

The metro urged residents to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets, and to install water-saving devices where possible.
