Police investigate fatal accident that claimed two Centurion nurses over weekend

The accident occurred on the intersection of the R55 and the M10 Wierda Road near Sutherlandridge.

Police are investigating a motor vehicle-related accident that left two Centurion nurses dead over the weekend and several others critically injured.

The crash occurred on Saturday night at the intersection of the R55 and the M10 Wierda Road near Sutherlandridge.

Tshwane SAPS spokesperson, Warrant-officer Johan van Dyk confirmed that two nurses died in the accident.

“A case of culpable homicide is opened and being investigated,” he said.

The Community Emergency Response Team’s (CERT) Centurion crew reported that it responded to the accident around 19:30.

The serious crash involving a light motor vehicle and a minibus happened at the intersection of the R55 and the M10 Wierda Road near Sutherlandridge.

“The occupants of the minibus were nursing staff returning home after their shift,” CERT reported.

The non-profit emergency services organisation said that one other patient was airlifted to a trauma facility.

Other critically injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.
