Two arrested, one flees after house robbery in Centurion

Security personnel received a tip-off about suspects who were attempting to steal a vehicle on Union Avenue.

Two suspects were arrested in the early morning of November 26, while a third fled into the nearby bushes during a high-speed chase on Botha Avenue, Centurion.

Police spokesperson Captain Johan Van Dyk said the incident occurred around 00:30 after private security personnel received a tip-off about a suspicious bakkie on Union Avenue.

“Acting on the tip-off, the officers spotted the bakkie driving without headlights, and the suspect attempted to flee, which then resulted in a high-speed chase.”

He said the vehicle was stopped in Botha Avenue, with the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lyttleton CPF, and other local security companies intervening, leading to the arrest.

“The joint efforts of the police, E2 Security, and CPF members, who provided critical information about the suspects, led to the success of this operation.”

Van Dyk commended the bravery and rapid response of the security personnel and CPF involved in arresting the suspects and recovering the stolen property.

Acting district commissioner Brigadier Moses Dladla praised the collaboration between law enforcement agencies and emphasised the importance of such partnerships in combatting crime.
