Paramedics said a man was shot and killed, while another was critically injured in a shooting in Mountain View on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Best Care Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Xander Loubser, they responded swiftly to the tragic shooting incident near their head office in Mountain View at approximately 14:45.

“Upon arrival, our emergency responders confirmed the devastating loss of one individual at the scene. A second individual was found in critical condition.”

He said the suspected shooter remained at the scene and was apprehended by Brinant Security, whose swift and professional actions ensured the safety of everyone present.

“We commend Brinant Security for their outstanding work in managing this situation.”

Loubser said Best Care Emergency Medical Services, in collaboration with Netcare 911, worked diligently to stabilize the critically injured patient, who was then transported by Netcare911 Helicopter Emergency Services to a specialized trauma facility for further treatment.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and our thoughts are with the injured individual, wishing them a full and swift recovery.”

He added that investigations are ongoing.

“Best Care Emergency Medical Services remains committed to providing expert emergency medical care and supporting our community during times of crisis.”
