No injuries reported after Centurion nursery school fire
All individuals had safely evacuated the premises before emergency services arrived.
A fire broke out this morning at a nursery school at the corner of Cendric and Bradley Streets in Centurion.
According to Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Valentine Matlala, the incident occurred around 08:36, and emergency services were dispatched promptly to address the situation.
“When our vehicles arrived, everyone was safely outside the yard,” he said.
He said there were no injuries, as all individuals had safely evacuated the premises before emergency services arrived.
Matlala said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“The fire safety systems were activated, and our fire safety district commander, Ramabolu, is currently investigating the cause of the fire.”
He added that the structure involved was a wooden building.
“Initial reports categorised the incident under building code 017; however, it was later clarified that the fire was actually in an outbuilding, designated as code 016.”
“Station 12 in Heuweloord was activated, and we had backup from Station 3 in Centurion on standby,” Matlala explained.
He said Station 3 was cancelled shortly after, as the first station could manage the situation effectively.
