Bubbles and ballet for charity

Brooklyn Mall welcomed the festive cheer with the “Bubbles and Ballet” event on Saturday.

The event showcased the talents of Mzansi Ballet dancers, leaving the audience mesmerised.

In a heartwarming gesture, Brooklyn Mall launched a “Ballet Shoes Tree” initiative, collecting donated ballet shoes to support aspiring young dancers.

The shoes will be donated to Mzansi Ballet, providing underprivileged dancers with essential equipment.

Attendees were encouraged to donate a pair of gently used ballet shoes or to purchase new ones in exchange for some “bubbles” (champagne).

The donation drive will run throughout December, allowing the community to get involved.

Brooklyn Mall’s marketing spokesperson, Tumi Semenya, said they collaborated with Woolworths WCellar to give back to the community.

She said they thought it would be a great idea for people to donate and get something in return.

“We are working with Mzansi Ballet to make sure that the shoes go to the right people.”

She said the ballet tree is meant to motivate people to donate to young dancers.

Semenya added that the tree will also be donated to ballet schools.
