Help bring joy to kids in Pretoria West

The drive this year is taking place from December 13 to 16.

The Pretoria West Christmas Project is asking residents to assist this year by donating to the cause, the goal is to raise R107 000.

The initiative started 15 years ago in Pretoria Gardens where a resident would drive up and down their street with their tracker blasting music and giving gifts to kids.

Since then, the project has only gotten bigger. The director, Xander Loubster, retired from his position last year however, the project aims to carry on this year despite the beloved figure’s departure.

Christmas Project Pretoria became a registered NPO this year. The project aims to raise the money to create 15 000 special treat bags for children and seniors in areas like Mountain View, Suiderberg, Lady Selborne, Daspoort, Hermanstad, Booysens, Claremont and Pretoria Gardens.

Each bag will not only be filled with delicious treats but also carry the love and care of the community.

Cars draped with Christmas-themed decorations flood the streets of Pretoria West in a procession that brings joy to the less fortunate little ones around the area.

“I’ve always been helping the community in any way that I can, and this is so special to me because when you see a child smile there’s nothing more that can make you happier,” said Lawrance Lee, one of the project organisers.

This year’s other project directors include Bryan Young, Megan Blom, Annelize Iding with Johan and Johalize Iding.

The project is currently asking for financial donations, however, if any residents would like to participate in the project they can get in touch with the organisers.

NXT Security Services is one of the partners supporting the project this year and Promed Emergency Services donated to the cause.
