An 11-year-old rape victim rescued
The community attempted to administer mob justice after the suspect was caught and the unconscious girl was discovered wrapped in plastic.
Hercules Sector 4 CPF and other stakeholders helped to find an 11-year-old girl who had been raped on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 18.
According to CPF Sector 4 member Edna van Vuuren, they received a call about a rape case at around 16:40 on Wednesday.
Van Vuuren said upon arrival, the mother of the victim told them that she had caught the suspect with her child naked in the suspect’s room.
“The mother said she ran out of the house in shock to call the community to come and help,” said Van Vuuren.
“After the mother had made her way out of the house, the man the fled the scene with the child.”
Van Vuuren said police along with LifeGuard Security and Uberwachung arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.
She said the emergency services began looking for the suspect and the girl.
“Nico van Vuuren brought a tracking dog to help with the search,” she said.
The dog tracked the scent to a pile of garbage.
“The mother then saw her daughter wrapped up with plastic in a garbage hole,” she said.
Van Vuuren said that upon discovery, the girl was experiencing difficulty breathing and was immediately medically assisted.
“She was unconscious because she couldn’t breathe through the plastic bag. “
According to Van Vuuren, the medical team that was on the scene confirmed that the girl had been raped.
She added that the community caught the suspect and wanted to commit mob justice.
“Police, CPF, and security companies helped to prevent the mob justice,” she said.
The suspect was arrested.
“We would like to thank André and Jackie Rademeyer, Uberwachung, LifeGuard Security, Netcare 911, Hercules police, community members, and neighbours.”
Police could not yet comment or confirm this information at the time of publication.
