Emergency repairs cause power shutdown across the city

Residents and businesses around the Pretoria CBD have been left in the dark due to urgent repairs at a Substation.

Parts of the Pretoria Central Business District (CBD) and surrounding areas are without electricity as of this morning due to planned emergency repairs at the Belle Ombre Main-Feed Substation.

The Tshwane metro initiated the power shutdown at the substation this morning at 07:00 to address electrical components that pose a potential fire risk.

Tshwane metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba said that the repair work would last for 4 hours from 07:00 to 12:00, affecting the power supply to residents and businesses in the following areas:

– Pretoria Central Business District
– Sunnyside
– Arcadia
– Muckleneuk
– Groenkloof
– Marabastad
– Pretoria West Industrial Areas
– Capital Park
– Daspoort
– Pretoria Gardens
– Hermanstad
– Hercules
– Innesdale
– Gezina

Residents and business owners are advised to treat all electrical apparatus as if they are live during this time.

“The city apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may arise as a result of this emergency repair work.”
