North family desperately seeking missing dog, R2 500 reward
Darth, a four-year-old Biewer Terrier, went missing on Sunday and has not been seen since.
A family in Montana, north of Pretoria, is appealing to the community to help find their missing dog.
The family is offering a R2 500 reward to anyone with information or anyone who can help reunite them.
Darth Vader is a four-year-old Biewer Yorkie who went missing in Sinoville on Sunday, January 12.
The owners believe he could have trekked to Montana and Zambezi.
Gwen Vermeulen said Darth escaped “through what seemed to be an impossible gap in a gate at around 08:00.
Despite extensive searches of the area, there has been no sign of him since”.
Vermeulen said she is distraught and has been tirelessly searching for him since his disappearance.
“He’s not just a dog; he’s family,” Gwen shared.
She said they are desperate to bring him home safely.
Vermeulen said Darth is the best friend of her four-year-old son and he is struggling without him.
“This community has always come together in times of need and I know we can do it again,” she pleaded.
She urged the community to share this plea widely on social media platforms to reach as many people as possible.
She said Darth is not micro-chipped, adding to the urgency of the situation.
“He is a small Biewer Yorkie with a distinctive coat and anyone who spots him is urged to act quickly.”
The Vermeulen family is asking for any information that could lead to Darth’s safe return.

Tshwane SPCA previously said that the following tips should be adhered to when your pet goes missing:
– Don’t just phone the animal shelters, they are all overstretched and understaffed. Go there in person.
– Go and complete a missing pet form at the Tshwane SPCA branches and attach a colour-printed picture of your pet.
– Upload your missing pet’s information on Pets Lost and Found
– Upload your missing pet’s information on Facebook pages
– Check all vets in the nearby area.
– Make missing posters and place them in your neighbourhood, local schools and shopping malls.
– Remember to keep collars on all your pets, with your contact details on at all times.
– Get them microchipped if you can.
– Remember to update all the places where you searched, once your pet has been found.
Include the following important details on all posts or flyers:
– Date and area they went missing from
– Type of animal (dog, cat, bird, etc.)
– Breed (Poodle, Alsation, etc.)
– Physical description: Gender, coat type, tail type, colour, any special markings.
– Collar or microchip.
– A clearly visible photo.
– Your contact information.
