Garsfontein CPF disbands sub sectors, new election coming
The CPF has assured residents that to ensure continued community involvement in crime prevention efforts, nominations for a new CPSF for Sector 4 will officially open on February 1 and run for two weeks.
The Garsfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) has announced the decision to disband the non-functional Sector 4a and 4b Community Policing Sub-Forums.
Sector 4 covers Moreleta Park and Constantia Park.
Chairperson for the CPF Aris Ruyter said, however, to ensure continued community involvement in crime prevention efforts, nominations for a new CPSF for Sector 4 will officially open two weeks from on February 1.
Voting will be held on the February 19th at the Cedar Hall, in the east of Pretoria, from 18:30.
Ruyter said a special Sector 4 meeting will then be held thereafter to elect the new leadership.
Positions to be filled for a functional CPSF:
Core leadership positions: Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer/Financial Manager, Public Relations Officer (PRO).
Additional roles: Criminal Justice System Coordinator, Crime Prevention Operational Coordinator, Training Coordinator, Logistical Support Coordinator, Victim Empowerment Coordinator, Youth Desk Chairperson, Patrol Coordinator.
Nomination process:
Nomination forms will be available in printed format at the Garsfontein SAPS Station.
To nominate someone, the following must be submitted:
-A completed and signed nomination form by both nominee and nominator.
-A copy of the nominee’s ID.
-A copy of the nominee’s proof of residence.
-A copy of the nominator’s proof of residence.
A secure submission box will be placed at the SAPS station counter for nominations to be dropped off.
Ruyter urged residents to join the fight against crime.
“We call upon the residents of Sector 4 to stand up and take an active role in partnering with SAPS and security companies to reclaim our community from crime.”
Ruyter said the residents are not alone. “The full strength of the Garsfontein CPF stands behind you. The past is behind us, now is the time to set aside differences and work together for the greater good of our area,” he said.
He urged residents to join the CPF as one united force across all four sectors of the Garsfontein precinct.
“Together, we can take back our neighbourhoods and stand alongside those willing to make a difference.”
