Capital Park CPF clean up near Cappies
Residents are urged to join their local CPF to assist the community and combat crime.
Members of the Capital Park CPF recently conducted a clean-up of Flower and Adcock streets near the Cappies Old Age Home.
The effort came about of the CPF’s own volition on January 25.
Ward 1 Councillor Leon Kruyshaar said that the pavements near the home are often unkempt with tall grass and litter posing challenges for the elderly to get to and from the nearby shopping complex.
They also used the walkway for gentle exercise and the long grass became a real obstacle in their efforts.
Kruyshaar expressed his gratitude for the CPF’s efforts, saying that maintenance of the area is often neglected.
CPF members Richard Jansen Van Vuuren and George Malan brought their own tools, cones, plastic bags and supplies to help out the elderly.
“They could have been at home enjoying a beer and watching the rugby but they are here. We really appreciate what they are doing in our area and specifically in this ward,” Kruyshaar said.
“The work that these guys are doing is really significant, if you just look around the area, most of the work here is done by these guys. You can call them jacks of all trades, you can call on them for anything. Whatever is required by the community, they are always on hand to help out,” Kruyshaar said.
Kruyshaar also urged Capital Park residents to join their local CPF saying that it is the only way the communities can win the war against crime.
