Four injured in multiple car crash on N1

Four patients suffered moderate to severe injuries. Two patients were transported to nearby facilities for medical attention.

A multi-vehicle accident on the N1 north near the Sefako Makgatho Drive offramp left four people injured on Thursday night.

Pretoria Volunteer Emergency Services spokesperson Hugo Minnaar said multiple emergency services responded to the scene around 19:40.

Minnaar said one truck and four cars were involved.

He said the truck had stopped on N1 north just before the Sefako Makgatho Drive offramp.

“Vehicles ploughed into the truck, one after another, which left four people injured.”

Minnaar said the patients’ injuries ranged from serious to moderate.

“A total of four patients [were attended to] with moderate to severe injuries. Two patients were transported to nearby facilities for medical attention,” he said.

The truck driver was unharmed.

Minnaar urged motorists to always be aware of their surroundings and move over to the next lane when approaching an accident scene.
