Healthy lifestyle meets charity in Mamelodi initiative
An aerobics instructor and a foundation have joined hands to collect donations and spread awareness of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
An aerobics instructor from Mamelodi has decided to collaborate with a local organisation to collect sanitary pads, stationery, school shoes and uniforms for the needy.
Instructor Lerato “Leefit” Maake and Kagiso Leso Foundation collected the items at an aerobics session.
The session was held next to Mamelodi West Clinic and the participants donated school uniforms and food on the weekend.
This year’s beneficiaries of the Back-to-school uniform and stationery drive are Thandanani Drop Inn Centre and local schools.

Leefit said they have partnered with the centre because it has an aftercare school programme which benefits local children.
She said they collected slightly used and new school uniforms and school shoes that are no longer needed but are still usable.
“It has been my passion from a young age to help the needy in and around our community.
“An aerobic session is also used as a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercising.”
Kagiso Leso from the foundation added: “We are not collecting only school uniforms and school shoes but also stationery such as pencils, notebooks, rulers, crayons, markers, flip files and scissors”.
The Back-to-school stationery and uniform drive continues, and the drop-off location is at Thandanani Drop-Inn Centre.
Leefit said she is planning to host aerobics sessions with small children to introduce them to a healthy lifestyle.
