Firefighters battle Moreleta Park house fire
Tshwane Emergency Services swiftly contained a raging house fire in a Moreleta Park security complex, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
Tshwane Emergency Services contained a house fire at a security complex in Moreleta Park before it spread to a neighbouring unit on April 27.
According to the emergency services, no injuries were reported.
Spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni said the department responded to a house fire call at a complex in Bolo Street, in Moreleta Park.
Mnguni said reports were received around 15:07.
“Firefighting crews were immediately dispatched from Erasmuskloof, Hazelwood, and Silverton fire stations. Resources included two fire engines, a water tanker, a rapid intervention unit, and a district commander unit,” he explained.
He said upon arrival, firefighters found one of the houses within the complex fully engulfed in flames.
“Firefighting operations began immediately, and the fire was brought under control by 15:53,” Mnguni said.
He added that the firefighters continued to douse the fire with water to cool it down as it was intensively hot.
“The fire was completely extinguished at 17:11. The second house within the unit was not affected by the fire and there were no injuries that were reported in this incident.”
He said thankfully, the adjacent house was not affected, and no injuries were recorded.
Mnguni said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
He urged residents to report any fire or emergency to 107 toll-free, or alternatively at 012 358 6300/6400.
“When reporting an emergency, please remain calm, provide a clear address, and a correct contact number so our operators can reach you if necessary,” he added.
