Teenager (17) killed in pedestrian accident in Pretoria

Local paramedics declared the 17-year-old dead at the scene in the east of Pretoria.

An accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy on Garsfontein Road in the east of Pretoria on Thursday evening, May 8.

According to Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (VEMRU) spokesperson Casper Visser, the boy was struck by a vehicle after 18:00.

The accident happened in the vicinity of the Woodlands Boulevard shopping centre.

Details are limited at this stage.

Visser said paramedics found the teenager with fatal injuries. Despite their efforts to save him, he was declared deceased at the scene.

“The incident has been handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation,” said Visser.

VEMRU, a registered non-profit and public beneficiary organisation, provides free emergency medical and trauma response services in the greater Pretoria East.
