Three people were transported to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation following a house fire in Altas Road, Valhalla in Centurion on Friday night, May 23.

According to Tshwane Emergency Services the three patients were treated by emergency medical practitioners on scene and then transported by ambulance to Groenkloof Hospital.

Tshwane Emergency Services acting spokesperson Tebogo Maake said emergency services responded swiftly to a residential fire.

“The call was received at 21:44, and two firefighting vehicles were initially dispatched to the scene,” said Maake. “Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a three-bedroom house fully engulfed in flames,” he added.

Maake said due to the intensity of the fire, an additional three fire engines were dispatched to provide further assistance.

“Emergency personnel worked diligently to contain and extinguish the blaze. The fire was successfully brought under control, with a one-bedroom flatlet on the property sustaining partial damage,” Maake continued.

He said the department commends the quick and coordinated response of all crews involved and reminds residents to regularly practice household fire safety measures, closing with “The cause of the fire is not known yet.”
