The Tshwane metro recently announced that it will carry out a tie-in connection to the water supply network along Olievenhoutbosch Road, in Louwlardia.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the repair work, which is scheduled for eight hours, from 08:00 until 16:00, may result in a water supply interruption to Louwlardia Ext 25, 32, 35, 36, 38, 43, 46 and 47, as well as the following amenities:
– Grey Owl Shopping Centre
– NHC Health Centre
– Parmalat
– Shoprite Checkers Warehouse
– Woolworths Distribution Centre
He encouraged residents to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle.
“Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
“Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes and do not fill swimming pools.”
Residents are urged to keep on using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets.
Mashigo said residents should report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents where water is wasted, and where possible, water-saving devices should be installed.
Tshwane has sincerely apologised for the inconvenience caused and appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation during this challenging period.
Residents are urged to adhere to the following water conservation measures during this period:
– Do not fill swimming pools.
– Install a low-flow showerhead and tap aerators where possible.
– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or to wash the car.
– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
– Take a short shower rather than a bath.
– Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
