New waste collection schedule rolls out for east communities

The waste collection routes were recently assessed, and the changes are due to route planning and logistics. The revised schedule will be effective from August 1.

Residents in the east of Pretoria have a new waste collection schedule as of August.

Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the waste collection schedules in Region 6 will change, effective from August 1.

He said these changes come as a result of an assessment of collection routes conducted recently.

“The revised schedule follows a recent assessment of waste collection routes, which was prompted by challenges experienced in route planning and logistics,” he said.

The metro said the assessment revealed that in some areas, the trials resulted in waste being collected on two separate days.

“Through the implementation of the new schedule, the city aims to improve operational efficiency and ensure more consistent and effective waste collection services for all affected areas,” he said.
