Man killed in fight outside Pretoria Moot shop

A man was declared dead at the scene after a violent fight broke out outside a shop in Pretoria Moot on Thursday.

A man was killed during a violent altercation outside a shop in Pretoria Moot on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk said the fight happened outside a shop in Meyer Street, Wonderboom South.

“Police officers of the Pretoria Moot SAPS were dispatched to Meyer Street in Wonderboom South following a report of a fight in progress at a supermarket.

“Upon arrival, members found three adult Asian males outside the shop with visible blood on their faces.

“When police entered the premises, members observed blood on the floor near the counter.”

He said  they found the victim lying unresponsive next to a vehicle.

“In front of the shop, a red Corsa motor vehicle was found parked. Next to the vehicle, an unidentified white adult male was found lying on the ground, unresponsive.”

Van Dyk said emergency medical services were summoned, and the man was declared deceased on the scene.

“Crime Scene Management experts attended the scene and collected evidence to support the ongoing investigation and subsequent court proceedings.”

He said preliminary investigations conducted at the scene identified several leads, which were followed up on.

“As a result, four suspects were identified, and a tracing operation was initiated.

“The suspects were successfully traced and arrested on charges of murder. They are expected to appear before the Pretoria Central Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.”

Major-General Samuel Thine expressed his appreciation to all members involved for their swift response and dedication, which led to the successful arrest of the suspects.
