For gospel artist and music producer ‘Prince Joe Music RSA,’ music has always been more than melodies and lyrics, it has been a calling to inspire, uplift and bring people closer to God.

Born Joel Jomboro, Akasia resident is steadily making his mark on South Africa’s gospel music scene.

As a singer, songwriter, music producer and youth choir leader, he is combining his passion for worship with a vision to empower young people while establishing his ministry in Pretoria.

His latest milestone comes with the release of his new single, The Promise, a worship anthem centred on faith, hope and God’s unwavering faithfulness.

The release follows his nomination for the Mzansi Rising Star Gospel Awards, a recognition he describes as both humbling and motivating.

Jomboro said his passion for gospel music started in church during his childhood, where he discovered that music was more than a hobby.

“My passion for gospel music was sparked in the church during my childhood. I realised early on that music wasn’t just a hobby for me, it was a calling.

“What inspired me to pursue it professionally was seeing the tangible impact that worship has on people’s lives,” he said.

His decision to stay in Akasia was equally intentional.

“Staying in Akasia was a step of faith and a strategic move for my music career and ministry. Pretoria is a vibrant hub of culture, creativity and spiritual growth, making it the perfect environment for the next chapter of ‘Prince Joe Music RSA’,” he said.

The artist believes his latest single speaks directly to people facing uncertainty and difficult circumstances.

“‘The Promise’ is a powerful worship anthem centred on God’s unwavering faithfulness. In a world full of uncertainty, people are dealing with anxiety and broken promises. My hope is that when listeners hear this song, they are reminded that God is not a man that He should lie.”

He explained that the song was inspired by a personal season of waiting and trusting in God’s timing.

“I wanted to create something that speaks directly to the heart of anyone waiting on a breakthrough. Every note, lyric and instrument was carefully crafted to capture the weight of that message.”

Beyond performing, Jomboro is equally passionate about mentoring young people through music.

As a youth choir leader, he believes gospel music can become a powerful tool for personal growth and community development.

“Our youth face so many challenges today, from unemployment to social pressures. Music was my sanctuary growing up, and I want to provide that same safe space for the younger generation,” he said.

He said, “Choral music teaches discipline, teamwork and spiritual grounding. By investing in youth development, we aren’t just building better musicians; we are building the future leaders of our communities.”

His work as a producer also shapes the distinctive sound that listeners hear in his music.

“Being a producer allows me to control the technical and creative sonic landscape of my music. Being an artist allows me to express my personal testimony.

“And leading a youth choir keeps me grounded and constantly inspired by the power of collective voices,” said Jomboro.

Despite receiving recognition through his Rising Star nomination, Jomboro acknowledges that building an independent music career has not been easy.

“One of the biggest challenges has been navigating the independent music industry. Managing funding, distribution and visibility on your own can be daunting. I’ve overcome these obstacles through absolute reliance on God, consistency and surrounding myself with a dedicated team and community.”

He also encouraged aspiring musicians not to lose sight of their purpose.

“My advice is to first discover your ‘Why’. Music requires immense resilience, and if your purpose isn’t clear, it’s easy to give up.

“Stay grounded, remain humble and never underestimate the power of starting right where you are.”
