Jubilee District Hospital has welcomed Dr Meisie Nkoane as its new Acting CEO.

Nkoane is a specialist family physician and healthcare executive with more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare sector.

Her appointment is expected to strengthen clinical governance, service delivery and multidisciplinary healthcare management at the hospital.

According to Tshwane District Health Services (TDHS), Nkoane brings specialist clinical expertise and healthcare management experience to her new role.

Before taking up the position of Acting CEO, Nkoane had served as Head of the General Outpatient Department at Jubilee District Hospital since November 2014.

She also previously served as a specialist family physician at the hospital.

Her professional career at Jubilee spans more than a decade, giving her extensive knowledge of the hospital’s operations and the healthcare needs of the community it serves.

“I am honoured to be entrusted by the Gauteng Department of Health with this huge responsibility of leading a team of hard-working healthcare workers at Jubilee District Hospital.

“We will continue striving for excellence in providing quality healthcare to the people of Hammanskraal and surrounding areas. Let us continue to put service delivery at the forefront for the benefit of our patients,” said Nkoane.

Her academic background includes a Master of Medicine in Family Medicine and a Fellowship of the College of Family Physicians of South Africa.

She also holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, a Bachelor of Science Honours in Medical Science specialising in Haematology and Cell Biology, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Free State.

She began her medical career as a medical intern at Kalafong Hospital in 2006 and 2007, then worked as a medical officer and community service medical officer from 2008 to 2009.

She then completed her registrar training in Family Medicine at the University of Limpopo from 2009 to 2013.

TDHS said Nkoane has developed a reputation for ethical and accountable leadership, supported by a strategic and analytical approach to healthcare management.

Her experience also extends to research, including peer-reviewed publications on infectious diseases, primary healthcare, health systems, referral pathways, service delivery and clinical outcomes.

In her new role, Nkoane will provide executive leadership and oversee hospital service management and delivery.

Her responsibilities will include building on her clinical leadership, governance and healthcare management experience while supporting efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of services.

TDHS described her as experienced in translating clinical and evidence-based principles into effective healthcare service delivery, with a strong focus on patient-centred care, professional accountability, quality improvement and organisational performance.
