Two bikers injured in Centurion truck accident

Two bikers were hospitalised, one with serious injuries, after a light truck and two motorcycles collided in Centurion.

Two bikers were injured when a light truck and two motorcycles collided on the R101 (Old Johannesburg Road), near Ruimte Road in Clubview, Centurion, on Wednesday evening, October 21.

The men, one in his 20s and the other middle-aged, were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

According to CERT-SA Centurion, its crews responded to the collision at approximately 17:43.

“One rider sustained serious injuries, while the second sustained moderate injuries,” the organisation said.

Both men were stabilised at the scene before being transported to hospital by emergency medical services.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear.

CERT Centurion thanked emergency personnel, police, towing operators, security teams and community organisations for their assistance at the scene.

The organisation also thanked the Good Samaritans who stopped to assist following the collision and continued supporting emergency medical personnel.

“Your kindness and willingness to help others during an emergency are sincerely appreciated,” it said.

Following the collision, CERT Centurion urged motorists to remain vigilant for motorcyclists, particularly at intersections and during peak-hour traffic.

Drivers were reminded to check their blind spots, maintain a safe following distance and ensure it is safe before turning or changing lanes.

Motorcyclists were encouraged to remain visible, ride defensively and wear appropriate protective equipment.
