Man killed on R80 Mabopane highway

Akasia police have opened a murder case after a man was believed to have been killed by two unknown assailants along the R80 Mabopane highway on Monday evening.
“The man was travelling with three female colleagues along the R80 when he asked that they pull over because he needed to relieve himself,” said Akasia police spokesperson Constable Lindiwe Mdluli.
According to the female colleagues, two unknown men emerged from the bushes and searched the man.
“When one of the suspects knocked on the driver’s window, they sped away leaving their male colleague behind with the robbers. They then stopped at the nearest filling station to call the police and give them the exact location of where they left him.
“Police received the call at 19:40 and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the man dead with no visible injuries.”
Emergency services were called to the scene. The man was declared dead.
Mduli added that the cause of death was unknown.
The suspects are still at large.
Police appealed to the public to come forward with more information that would bring the perpetrators to book. They can call the Akasia police station on 012 564 0700.
