Soshanguve SAPS arrest two suspects after chase
Police seized a 9mm handgun and a revolver with accompanying ammunition after catching the suspect that ran on foot.
Police arrested two men for possession of unlicensed firearms following a car and foot chase through Soshanguve last week.
The Soshanguve SAPS’s crime combat unit was conducting regular patrols in the area near Block TT when they came across a suspicious white Toyota Corolla roaming the block.
The vehicle, with two men inside, sped away when they realised the police were after them.
The police unit took chase calling in back-up.
During the short car chase, the passenger of the vehicle opened his car door and jumped out in an attempt to flee from authorities.
The suspects did not manage to get far, however. The driver of the vehicle was apprehended a short while after his partner abandoned him.
The second suspect that fled on foot was located and arrested while hiding in the surrounding houses of Block TT.

Both men were arrested and charged with various crimes.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Pretoria North magistrate’s court in due course.
Soshanguve SAPS urge the public to call and report any persons with illegal firearms to help authorities combat the surge of gun violence nationwide.
