Death of beloved Affie Grade 8 learner mourned
The death of a beloved Affie learner left many shocked on Tuesday morning.
Condolences streamed in on Tuesday morning after the shocking news was announced of the death of a beloved Grade 8 Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool learner.
Coetzee Burger died on Monday evening.
Grade 8 students were informed of Coetzee’s death on Tuesday morning with the school’s counselling team and psychologist to help guide them through the emotional news.
Support was offered to learners and parents who needed it during this time.
From the messages, it was clear that Coetzee was a popular and loved learner. He leaves behind his parents and two younger brothers.
The school posted the following on its Facebook page: “It is with sadness that we inform you of [his] death. Our hearts go out to his parents and two younger brothers. We pray for the Lord’s comfort for the Burger family in this extremely difficult time.”
In the post, the school invited learners to talk to the school’s psychologist and counselling team.
“Additional staff members and counsellors are ready to strengthen our support centre. Any boy who needs support can knock on the door at any time.”
