Two arrested for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle in Sinoville
Pratt also reminded the secondhand dealers in the area that if they are found with stolen property, they would be held accountable and charged accordingly.
Two people were arrested for trying to sell a suspected stolen vehicle to a Sinoville dealership at the weekend.
Sinoville police arrested the man and woman for possession of a Toyota Hilux bakkie reported stolen in Lyttelton last month.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said the two suspects tried to sell the vehicle and when the dealership owner and CPF became suspicious, he called the police.
“The two were looking to sell the car, however on closer inspection it was noted that the seatbelts had been cut, that is when the persons and vehicle were taken to the police station.
“Further investigation revealed that the man was a wanted suspect from Bela-Bela and the woman had been arrested previously for the possession of a stolen vehicle.”
Sinoville station commissioner Lieutenant-Colonel Alet Pratt, congratulated the member of the Sinoville CPF for noticing the irregularities on the vehicle then contacting SAPS.
Pratt also thanked the officers for their commitment to serve their community within the policing area of Sinoville.
Pratt put out a reminder to secondhand dealers in the area that if they are found with stolen property, they would be held accountable and charged accordingly.
