Petrol price predicted to decrease, no such luck for diesel
Petrol is set to decrease in the first week of October, but diesel will get more expensive, due to global supply pressures and a lower oil price.
The petrol price should see a dip in the first week of October, bringing a little relief to some motorists. Diesel consumers have no such luck, however, as diesel prices are predicted to increase.
South African motorists have struggled with increasing fuel prices in 2022 until this September’s R2.04 cut. Now, further cuts to petrol prices can be expected in early October due to lower oil prices.
Diesel, however, is set to increase as diesel experiences global difficulties from supply pressures.
With two weeks to go until October, though, prices could still be impacted by changes in the oil price or by international exchange rates.
Reports show that ULP 95 is set to fall by as much as R1.50 per litre, while ULP 93 could drop by about R1.30.
Diesel is on track to increase by around 70 cents per litre.
ULP 93 currently costs R22.95 per litre and had a high this year of R26.31 in July. ULP 95 is currently R23.38 per litre with a high of R26.74 in July.
At the beginning of 2022, ULP 93 cost R19.36 and R19.61 for ULP 95.
