Beware VW Polo robbing people in Akasia – police
People with more information on this vehicle and the driver are encouraged to come forward.
Akasia police are investigating multiple cases of common robbery involving a VW Polo in the area recently.
Police spokesperson Lindiwe Mabasa said police would like to make the community aware of the troublesome occupants of a VW Polo that are robbing people of their valuables.
She said a woman was waiting for a taxi outside her home in The Orchards recently.
“The said VW Polo with unknown male occupants approached her and the driver offered her a lift claiming that he was heading to Wonder Park,” Mabasa said.
“While they were driving, the driver then alleged that the vehicle had a mechanical problem. He then asked her to help him push the vehicle and when she got out to assist him, the vehicle suddenly drove off at a high speed leaving her stranded without her belongings.”
Mabasa advised residents to remain vigilant to avoid becoming a victim.
She appealed to the public to look out and report any suspicious activity to the police.
