More than 10 000 people gathered over the weekend to celebrate true German tradition at the 44th Oktoberfest.

Known for its large crowds and ample entertainment, this past weekend’s Oktoberfest was packed with carnival rides, food stalls and, of course, the famous beer tent.

Taking place at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria as the school’s fundraiser, the event was a full school community effort with learners pitching in as waiters, sales assistants and performers. It was indeed all hands on deck, making for a successful and fun-filled Oktoberfest.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without the famous beer tent and garden. Hundreds of people gathered under the massive tent to enjoy an authentic German experience with live music on the main stage by the Kronwildkrainer oompah band from Niederösterreich and lots of beer options to choose from.
