Noise, road closures ahead of airshow this weekend
The TMPD issued a notice of increased noise levels and road closures on September 24 and 25 as the African Aerospace and Defence airshow is set to take place.
The African Aerospace and Defence (AAD) airshow will take place on September 24 and 25 at the Airforce base in Waterkloof.
An increase of aircraft movement can be expected from September 17, the busiest being Wednesday, September 21, until the last day of the show on September 25. Noise levels will be highest between 09:00 and 18:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
Affected residents are advised to keep animals secure and safe.
The following streets will be closed on the days of the event:
– Solomon Mahlangu Drive and R21 freeway in the vicinity of the Waterkloof Air Force base.
– Solomon Mahlangu Drive and Solomon Cress (Unie Street)
– Veldpou Street at Dastek.
Parking for guests to the airshow will be available as follows:
– Park and ride: Armscor (Krygkor), next to Hoërskool Waterkloof
– Park and ride: 68 Air school, Trichardt Road and Zircon Street.
– Park and ride: Centurion Gautrain station to the base.
Parking entry will be:
– Van Ryneveld Road into the back of the base.
– Nellmapius Drive into Van Ryneveld road into the base.
– N1 Botha Avenue up to Topaz Avenue.
Motorists are urged to follow information boards. All routes will be clearly marked.
TMPD will be deployed on all routes to assist with traffic flow and to monitor all road closures.
