Grade 1 and 8 placement offers running till November 30
Hoerskool Langenhoven in Pretoria North received 2 607 applications even though the school has a capacity to only place 300, making it the school with the most submissions in Gauteng.
More grade 1 and 8 applications were received by the Department of Education than the placements it can offer in Pretoria.
The online admissions system had recorded the highest number of submitted applications since its inception in 2016 as a total of 764 062 were submitted and processed for both grades.
Hoërskool Langenhoven in Pretoria North received 2 607 applications even though the school can only place 300, making it the school with the most submissions in Gauteng.
Hoërskool Akasia was in third place with 2 003 applications; however, the school will only accommodate 235 learners.
Parents/guardians will be receiving placement offers for grade 1 and 8 learners from October 3 to November 30 via SMS.
To accept an offer within seven days, they will then have to log onto gdeadmissions.gov.za using their credentials.
“SMSes will be sent out continually until the end of the placement period on November 30.
“This means that not all applicants will receive an SMS on the first day of the placement period, but they must expect an SMS anytime between October and November,” said Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
Parents/guardians who have not received an SMS are encouraged to use their credentials to log onto gdeadmissions.gov.za and check whether they have received an offer or not.
In the event an SMS states that your child has been placed at a certain school, this will be regarded as a successful placement at the mentioned school. There will be no need for a parent/guardian to access the system to accept an offer in that regard because the child would be placed at the mentioned school.
Parents and guardians who may have forgotten or lost their credentials must click on “Forgot Password” on the landing page and follow the prompts to regain access to the system.
Alternatively, parents and guardians are welcome to interact with the call centre agents on 0800 000 789 or send a WhatsApp to 060 891 0361.
“When a placement offer is received, applicant parents should log into their profile on www.gdeadmissions.gov.za to accept the offer as final or accept while awaiting other offers.
“Parents may also visit district offices or schools for assistance to accept placement offers.
“Applicants who do not accept placement offers within seven school days will be auto-placed at the school that made an offer of placement,” said Lesufi.
